Elvis Presley's last words continue to haunt those who have heard them.

Presley's sudden death left everyone in deep shock, especially since the King of Rock and Roll still had plans for his personal life and career when it happened. He died on Aug. 16, 1977 at 1:30 p.m inside his Memphis mansion, with doctors saying that he died of a heart attack due to his addiction to prescription barbiturates.

But the last words he offered to his stepbrother two days before his passing left everyone heartbroken.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Stanley recalled the last time he spoke to Presley on Aug. 14, 1977. At that time, the singer was reportedly showing off his new karate knives when Stanley hurt his finger when he threw a punch at his stepbrother.

When they went to the bathroom, the "The Faith of Elvis" heard Presley's last words to him.

"We were standing by the sink, facing this huge mirror. Here was Elvis, making a big deal out of this, like he was going to have to do surgery or something. Meanwhile, I'm just standing there in amazement, smiling at him," he said.

Stanley then recalled how Presley quietly asked him if he believes God forgives people for their sins. The brothers reportedly talked about it for almost 17 years, but the legendary musician wanted to hear it from him.

Elvis Presley Had Flourishing Plans For His Future

During the conversation, Presley told him his next plans in order to make serious changes in his life.

The King of Rock and Roll reportedly planned to fire his longtime manager, Colonel Tom Parker, and his employees. He also wanted Stanley to quit his job as an assistant jet mechanic at the airport and work for him again.

Presley ended their conversation by telling his stepbrother he loved him and that he would read his bible.

However, that instance was the last time Stanley saw him alive after Presley died days later at the age of 42.

The singer started struggling with his physical health in the mid-1970s. At that time, he also led himself to depend on prescription drugs.

A day before his passing, he asked his stepbrother, Ricky Stanley, to get six Dilaudid tablets from the pharmacy at Baptist Memorial Hospital after his personal physician, Dr. Nichopoulos, prescribed him it. He reportedly took all the tablets before taking the second and third packages of pills and pain killers due to his desire to sleep ahead of his Maine concert.

A few hours later, he went to the bathroom due to extreme constipation and never made it out alive again.
