Good news for Dream Theater fans! The band is planning to record their 16th studio album soon but supporters will have to wait for quite a long time before it gets released.

John Petrucci recently spoke to Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" where he teased fans about their big plans this coming 2023.

The guitarist revealed that the rock band will be touring throughout next year as they have a lot of catching up to do after two years of not doing anything throughout the pandemic.

"We played two shows only in Asia; we played, like, four shows in South America. There's a lot more ground to cover. So 2023 is gonna be filled with Dream Theater touring; I'm certain of that," he added. (via NME)

Regarding new music, the musician noted that they are still working on their previous record and he doesn't see himself with his bandmates in a recording studio anytime soon.

However, he confirmed that they will return to recording their new album late next year.

"There's not gonna be any studio work done before the fall; I highly doubt it. So a new record wouldn't be [released before] the following year," he added.

Their last album titled "A View From The Top Of The World" was released last year, it was their first project recorded at their own studio called Dream Theater Headquarters.

John Petrucci Busy on Solo Career

Aside from being a full-time member of Dream Theater, Petrucci has a solo career on his own as he's currently traveling across North America for his solo tour along with Mike Portnoy.

According to Consequence Heavy, three dates have only been announced in the past but he later expanded it to 28 tour dates.

His tour kicked off in Providence, Rhode Island, last October 5 and he's set to visit more venues over the next few months like the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, Capitol Theater (Bilheimer Capitol Theater) in Clearwater, Hard Rock Live in Orlando, and many more.

His final scheduled date would be on November 18 at the Théâtre Granada in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Tickets are still available on Petrucci's official website and Ticketmaster.
