Hayley Williams no longer feels heavy about the controversial lyrics of Paramore's "Misery Business." It used to define her, and she struggled with the thought that others are viewing her a certain way because of it.

In 2018, the lead singer of Paramore said that the band would no longer perform their 2007 breakthrough single live owing to the anti-feminist lyrics "once a w**re, you're nothing more" in the second stanza.

Hayley said in an interview with The Guardian that the lyrics she composed at age 17 weighed "quite heavily" on her for years, but she now feels better about them. She explained that it was only since they have felt lighter about the band do I not feel defined by that song.

She prefers to think of the times they bring a fan on stage to sing the song with them during live performances. she said it was these light and fun moments that she believes defines the band, not these dramas and the question if she's truly a feminist just because of these contentious lyrics.

This year, Hayley, who is currently 33 years old, performed "Misery Business" with Billie Eilish at Coachella. She disclosed to the publication that she attempted to dissuade the pop diva from performing the controversial song. Nonetheless, she realized that It should not concern her. People develop and grow and she's no exception. She revealed that she had already called myself out and done extensive work on the misogyny she had internalized as a young woman.

The first song Hayley and her bandmates Taylor York and Zac Farro wrote for their new album, "This Is Why", examines the reaction to "Misery Business" and the inability to influence how others perceive you.

"Misery Business" is about how it feels to acknowledge that there are times in your life when you were the bad guy or said something you didn't really believe, and how that comes to define you for some people. She asked what else can she do but grow and challenge herself?

Meanwhile, Hayley Williams and Taylor York have revealed their current relationship in a new interview. The announcement was made when the band was being interviewed about their next album "This Is Why," which will be their first release since 2017's "After Laughter."
