Rex Orange County Jail: Fans Mulls Over Sexual Assault Charges, Explains 'Crying' on Concerts

Yesterday, fans of indie singer Rex Orange County were taken aback after he was charged with six counts of sexual assault in London.

But since the damning allegations emerged, the 24-year-old hitmaker was quick to deny it in front of a court.

Following its emergence online, fans immediately condemned Rex Orange County, calling him out for his problematic behavior. However, some other fans are still trying to get hold of the information, grasping the shocking accusations thrown at the singer.

What Happened to Rex Orange County?

According to Rolling Stone, Rex Orange County, formally known as Alexander O'Connor, was charged with six separate counts of sexual assault in London by an unnamed woman.

Apparently, last June 2021, O'Connor is said to have assaulted a 16-year-old woman twice on the West End and another four on the next day. One of the explicit encounters that are said to have taken place happened when they were in a taxi and three on Notting Hill.

"Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court. He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings," Rex Orange County's representative said to the publication.

Eventually, he was released on "unconditional bail" after pleading not guilty to the six counts of sexual assault. A trial date has already been set for Jan. 3, 2023.

Meanwhile, fans of the "Bestfriend" hitmaker are still in disbelief on social media.

"rex orange county.... i loved you... and you let me down.... you let ALL of us down... wtf is wrong with u bro," a fan posted.

"rex orange county did what. i'm so devastated pls, being a fan since 2018 i hate this so muchhhhhh," another one shared.

But despite others still in a state of shock, many have already stood their ground on their condemnation.

But that was not the end of the fan's concerns.

Last July 2022, Rex Orange County canceled the remainder of his tour, describing the decision to be "the last thing I want to do." (via NME)

Some fans believe that the cancelation was a deliberate move to steer away from the media with the impending lawsuit.

Ex-fans of Rex Orange County has also pointed out on TikTok that the singer had been crying on his last shows because that was the last time he could feel the love from his fans, who were predominantly women.
