Blake Shelton is bidding goodbye on his red chair at "The Voice" after 12 years of helming the iconic seat.

The news came shortly after the show announced that John Legend, Camila Cabello, and Gwen Stefani would not be returning to "The Voice" Season 23 as coaches.

However, fans of the reality singing competition don't have to worry as the panel of coaches will be revamped in the following season as a familiar face comes back to town.

Replacing Stefani, Cabello, and Legend are Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan, and returning coach Kelly Clarkson.

But despite the new addition and Kelly Clarkson's return to the team on "The Voice" Season 23, it would also mark Blake Shelton's last season in the show.

According to a statement that he released on Twitter, Shelton revealed that he had already been "wrestling" with the decision for quite a while already.

"This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me. It's been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week," he said in a statement.

Currently, Blake Shelton is the longest-running coach in the show's history, having to serve 23 seasons in total. He trails behind Adam Levine, who started on Season 1 with him but left the show after Season 16. Kelly Clarkson is marking her 9th season on Season 23, while John Legend already had seven seasons in.

Shelton also went on to mention that he had made "lifelong bonds" with host Carson Daly and every single coach in the series, including his now wife, Gwen Stefani.

It was in 2015 that both "The Voice" coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani bonded and began dating following their respective divorces.

He tied the knot with Gwen Stefani, her third marriage, just last year in an Oklahoma chic-cowboy wedding, reflecting both artists' country roots.

Season 22 of "The Voice" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Blake Shelton, John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Camila Cabello are the current coaches.
