It has been over four years since the death of rapper Lil Peep due to an overdose. His mother championed his wrongful death case against his management, First Access Entertainment, and they have finally reached a settlement.
Lil Peep, born Gustav Elijah Åhr, died of a fentanyl and Xanax overdose on Nov. 15, 2017. According to reports, his death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner.
His mother, Liza Womack, filed a suit against his management in 2019, claiming wrongful death, negligence, and breach of contract.
"I want justice for Gus. That's why I'm doing this. Whatever form it takes, what I'm looking for is for people to be held accountable for their behavior," she told Pitchfork in 2021.
Womack alleged that Lil Peep's tour manager and others encouraged and enabled his drug use, which ultimately became the reason why he overdosed and died.
She also claimed that the management provided him with the drugs and then urged him to continue performing, despite he was under the influence of drugs, which exacerbated his situation.

Settlement
"If you're going to create an environment like that where drugs are flowing, and you're providing it, and hey, you actually don't have any life-saving device or any Narcan to help people who are going to have a problem with these drugs, it seems to me you are creating a very dangerous situation there," said Judge Beaudet, who presided over the case.
Despite denying anything to do with the rapper's death in 2019, FAE has decided to settle with Womack out of court, reports say.
Had they not settled, Belinda Mercer, Lil Peep's tour manager, and FAE would be gone into trial in March of the following year.
As of this writing, there are no specifics on what the two parties have agreed upon.
Lil Peep was 21 when he passed away. He was a member of an emo rap collective called GothBoiClique, and rose to prominence in the 2010s for his specific genre of rap.
He was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He had his start in music through SoundCloud, where he released songs under the name Trap Goose.
In 2015, he released "Star Shopping," which boosted his popularity on the application.
