In an interview with Apple Music 1 for "Rap Life Radio," Freddie Gibbs opened up about how he is able to overcome the beefs he has gotten into in recent times.

"If you in the Rap game and you need an enemy, hit up Freddie Gibbs, you know what I'm saying?" He said. "I'm the perfect enemy for you because I'm not going to back down from you."

According to reports, Gibbs is known for getting into verbal fights with other rappers. However, he does not take it too seriously.

"You say something, I'm going to say something back. And I think a lot of people know that. I feel like a lot of these people, they team be like, 'Yo, go at Freddie Gibbs. Nudge him, see what he going to say.'"

He explained that the reason why he no longer takes the jabs at him too seriously is that he raps better than most of them.

"I'm all about the comedy end of it, because rapping, they can't really rap better than me," he said. "[...] only probably like five guys walking the planet Earth that like rap as good as me, so I'm not worried about rap battles. [sic]"

'Street Stuff'

According to reports, Gibbs has had some run-ins with fellow rappers like Gunna and Benny the Butcher, however, he is focusing more on his music than the controversies surrounding his beef with them.

"I'm one to leave the street stuff in the streets and let the music play out how it's going to play out," he said. "That's why I don't really care about really saying nobody name on my records and stuff like that. [sic]"

He added that his "track record speaks for itself." He also recently released his fifth studio album "$oul $old $eparately" on Sept. 30, two years after the release of his previous self-titled album in 2018.

According to several reports, the album was considered a "cohesive" and "uniform" album, with a singular concept and theme running through it. Furthermore, the album received a Metacritic score of 78 out of 100, 7 out of 10 from Rolling Stone, and 7.7 out of 10 from Pitchfork.

"$oul $old $eparately" boasted 15 songs, including several collaborations with various artists like Offset, Rick Ross, Pusha T, Anderson .Paak, Raekwon, and more.

Gibbs, born Fredrick Jamel Tipton, hailed from Gary, Indiana. He began his rap career in 2004.

He eventually went on to release his debut studio album "ESGN," which stands for Evil Seeds Grow Naturally, in 2013.
