On October 18, Cardi B testified in a case over one of her album covers. Kevin Brophy of California has filed a lawsuit against the "Up" rapper for her "Gangsta B**ch Vol. 1 album" cover, alleging that his unique back tattoo was placed onto the cover woman to make it appear as though Brophy was engaging in oral sex with the singer.
Cardi B, whose true name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, is depicted sipping beer while holding a man's head between her thighs on the cover of her 2016 album.
The model between the 30-year-legs old's consented to the shoot, per Billboard.
Apparently, a graphic designer on the project afterwards searched "back tattoos" on Google Images and photoshopped one onto the model.
The problem is that the tattoo in question, a tiger fighting a serpent, was Brophy's.
Brophy sued the rapper in 2017 for exploiting his likeness without his permission, violating his right to privacy, and portraying him in a "false light" that he found "very hurtful."
On Tuesday, the trial of the case began, with Brophy testifying that the cover had caused him "pain and shame." Cardi argued on Wednesday that the model in the photo appears sufficiently different to Brophy for him not to be confused with the model based on his tattoo.
She mentioned that the model is "a Black man" but Brophy is white, and that while the model has hair, Brophy's head is shaved. "It's not Mr. Brophy's back. It doesn't look like Mr. Brophy at all," she told the court. "Y'all have been harassing me for $5 million."
Cardi B celebrated her 30th birthday at the Poppy nightclub in West Hollywood, California, on Tuesday, October 11th. Offset, Tyga, GloRilla, Chance The Rapper, Wale, DDG, O.T. Genasis, and more were among the celebrities in attendance.
Jamie Foxx also appeared at the location, but he was denied access to the event. TMZ captured a video of the peculiar encounter. The video opens with Jamie Foxx arriving in a white Rolls-Royce and changing his shoes prior to entering the party.
Moments later, he returns to the street, having been denied entry to the celebrity party. As the Academy Award-winning actor prepares to enter his vehicle, someone from the club or party approaches to inform him that he is welcome to enter. "Nah, we not good," Jamie Foxx fires back.
The individual then shakes Jamie's hand with the hope that he may change his mind. "It's all good," Jamie says. "I don't give a fuck. No, really. I love you, my n***a. It was too much." According to TMZ, the "Slow Jamz" singer was denied admittance because he was accompanied by four or five others.
