Taylor Swift's new album reportedly offered signs that she and Joe Alwyn are already engaged.
After waiting for a long time since Swift announced the album at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, she finally served her "Midnights" to her fans. The album serves as her 10th studio album following her previous project, "Evermore," last year.
Aside from hyping her fans with new music, Swift also stirred buzz about her engagement with Alwyn.
In a report shared by PEOPLE, it noted that the 32-year-old "Look What You Made Me Do" singer spoke about the engagement buzz on her "Midnights" opening track, "Lavender Haze."
The lyrics of the song say: "I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say/ the 1950s s- they want from me/ I just wanna stay in that lavender haze/ All they keep asking me is if I'm gonna be your bride/ the only kinda girl they see is a one night or a wife."
But far from what Swifties expected, the singer only got inspired by the phrase "lavender haze" while watching the TV series "Mad Men." She explained in a Tiktok video that the phrase was a common one used in the 1950s to describe people in love.
She added that her boyfriend of six years inspired her to write the song.
"Like my relationship for six years, we've had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it. And so this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff," she added.
With that, it is safe to say that the couple is yet to take a huge step in their relationship.
Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn Deal With Engagement Rumors
It was not the first time talks about engagement emerged.
In the past years, Swift and Alywn sparked rumors as they spent their time in England and Nashville amid the pandemic.
Alwyn himself, however, eventually broke his silence regarding their status in an interview with WSJ. He explained that he would have a lot of pound coins if he had a pound every time he had been asked whether he was already engaged.
At that time, he already declared he would not say it to the public if ever they have already taken their relationship to the next level.
