Joni Mitchell revealed what she feels most grateful for decades after she debuted as a singer.
Days after confirming her first-ever concert in 23 years, Mitchell was spotted having lunch with her friends in Beverly Hills. Radar Online reported that a photographer asked the singer what she was most excited about after revealing her tour, to which she said, "Being alive."
The source added that Mitchell still looked healthier than ever as she donned red lipstick during the outing. The singer then showed her excitement to the photographer as she said that she would truly have her first concert in 23 years.
Her response resonated with what Brandi Carlile said during her appearance on "The Daily Show." According to the folk singer, Mitchell would headline her concerts soon.
"I can't believe it's happening, but it's happening. No one's been able to buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play in 20 years. So this is enormous," Carlile went on.
Mitchell's return was somewhat unexpected, especially since she remained out of the spotlight following her stroke in 2015.
Joni Mitchell's Health Problems
Before her recent appearance, Mitchell delivered a speech at the 2021 Kennedy Center Honours.
At that time, she talked about the brain aneurysm she faced in 2015 and how she was unable to walk after the health scare. Still, she assured her fans she was making good progress and started learning how to walk again.
Per Johns Hopkins Medicine, a brain aneurysm occurs when a blood vessel in a patient's brain bulges suddenly. It can be classified as ruptured or unruptured, and the former can cause severe symptoms.
Aside from a brain aneurysm, Mitchell also self-diagnosed herself with Morgellons Disease, which is described as a "controversial" disease since it is still yet to be fully understood in the medical field.
"Fibers in a variety of colors protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm: they cannot be forensically identified as animal, vegetable or mineral. Morgellons is a slow, unpredictable killer - a terrorist disease: it will blow up one of your organs, leaving you in bed for a year," Mitchell said in 2010.
After going through those issues, Mitchell will soon show she is stronger than ever. Her first concert in 23 years will be held at Washington's Gorge Amphitheatre on Jun. 10, 2023. The singer called the place as "one of the most beautiful venues in the world."
