Chuck D broke his silence on Takeoff's death, saying that gun violence in the hip-hop industry already became an abnormal behavior.

As hip-hop stars and fans continuously send their outpouring love and support to Takeoff and his family after his death, Chuck D also took his time to talk about the root cause of rappers' deaths in the past years.

In an exclusive interview on TMZ Live (via TMZ website), the famed MC urged the people in the industry to start addressing the gun violence surrounding them. He noted that the killing of rappers already reached an alarming pace, especially after Takeoff's untimely death.

Chuck D spoke about how losing rappers to gun violence has since been normalized these days even though it should be considered as abnormal behavior.

Because the issue is being set aside for a long time, more rappers lost their lives in the past years.

"It's not normal behavior, it's just not normal and what the circumstances in the United States of America is just dealing with abnormal situations that people think, you know, through culture, it's been normalized over the years," he said, eventually adding, "It's a tragedy and I think that in any other walk of life it would have been addressed far earlier on how to prevent this before it became a thing that people thought is normal."

What Happened To Takeoff? Rapper Dead at 28

Chuck D's call came after several news outlets, including CNN and Associated Press, confirmed that Takeoff was shot and killed in a shooting incident on Tuesday.

The killing happened outside a bowling alley, and it also left two other people wounded.

Houston Police said an argument occurred among a group of 40 people who attended a private party in the area. At around 2:30 a.m., it received a call regarding a person who sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

Police Chief Troy Finner said at least two people opened fire in the area.

While Takeoff was already dead on the spot, two other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a hospital.

Seven hours after the shooting, an AP reporter saw a body - which might be Takeoff's - loaded into a medical examiner's van.

The security guards present in the area heard the gunshots but did not see who did it.

A probe remains underway to determine who caused Takeoff's death.
