Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor skipped the band's historic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony due to a worrying reason.

The 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Duran Duran on Saturday night at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. All members attended the event except for Taylor, who is reportedly facing a dreaded health issue.

During the band's induction, the members read the guitarist's acceptance speech letter which he revealed he was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago. With that, he failed to travel from Ibiza, Spain, to Los Angeles to attend the event.

"Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease and of course, we are no different; so I speak from the perspective of a family-man but with profound humility to the band, the greatest fans a group could have and this exceptional accolade," he said, as quoted by Variety.

The members only read a portion of the letter, but a full version of which has since been shared on the band's website.

Taylor disclosed that, while his current status is not life-threatening, he revealed that it has no cure already. He went through treatment and saw a positive outcome, but a setback suddenly affected it.

Although he did not make it to the event, he expressed how proud he feels for his four brothers. He then said he was grateful and lucky to see that day to come, referring to Duran Duran's induction.

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer starts when the cells in the prostate gland grow out of control. The types of this cancer include adenocarcinomas, small cell carcinomas, sarcomas, transitional cell carcinomas, and neuroendocrine tumors.

Simon LeBon Says Andy Taylor's Health Issue Is Devastating

After receiving the milestone, the band went backstage where LeBon opened up about Taylor's condition.

He revealed that learning about the guitarist's health is devastating enough. Although he wanted to cry, he found it inappropriate as Taylor himself wanted them to celebrate the band's honor.

Meanwhile, fans and colleagues immediately sent their well wishes to Taylor as they hoped for the best for him.

Duran Duran debuted in Birmingham in 1978. It initially savored success after releasing its 1982 album, "Rio."
