Flyleaf reunited with their original vocalist Lacey Sturm; they surprised fans by updating all their social media accounts with a picture of a flame and the words, "Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm."
Fans cannot wait to see the entire band together again, it has been over 10 years since she departed the band shortly before the release of "New Horizons," their third studio album.
According to reports, they will be reuniting to play at the inaugural Sick New World music festival in Las Vegas set for May 13, 2023.
10 Years
Flyleaf was established 20 years ago in Belton, Texas. The hard rock band consisted of James Culpepper, Sameer Bhattacharya, Jared Hartmann, Kristen May, and Lacey Sturm.
They focus on mainstream rock, Christian pop, and Christian metal genres for their music. Their debut album came in 2005, their eponymous album, "Flyleaf", went on to become a platinum-selling album, which sold over a million copies.
Their sophomore album, "Memento Mori," was also successful, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard charts. However, it was on their third album that the band hit a breaking point.
After 10 years of being the hard rock band's vocalist, Sturm left following the release of their song, "New Horizons", reports say.
Sturm revealed that she left the band after getting pregnant with her first child, "I recognized that my priorities were gonna change even more and that message of 'Memento Mori' and remembering how short your life is was really weighing on my heart."
Flyleaf enlisted Kirsten May to take over as singer for their fourth album, "Between the Stars," which was released in 2014. However, she left the band after the release of the album, which led them to take a hiatus in 2016.
"Well, you know, I feel like I'm the kind of person that I think so much happened that I never in a million years thought would happen, so I've learned to quit saying 'never,'" Sturm said about the possible reunion of the band back in 2016.
True enough, Sturm returned to Flyleaf and they are now gearing toward their return to the stage after six years.
This will mark their first comeback from their hiatus, as well as their first performance with their original vocalist.
According to reports, the Sick New World music festival will see several bands that fans have not seen for quite some time. Other acts included in the nu-metal and hard rock destination festival include Evanescence, Papa Roach, She Wants Revenge, and more, in addition to Flyleaf.
It will feature acts that rule mainstream rock radio.
