Rod Stewart Turned Down $1 Million To Play In One Country Because of This

Rod Stewart avoided a $1 million payday.

The British singer-songwriter was discussing the upcoming World Cup when he revealed that he had been asked to perform a show in Qatar last year.

Speaking toThe Sunday Times, the 77-year-old revealed, "I was actually offered a lot of money, over $1m, to play there 15 months ago."

The "I Don't Want To Talk About It" singer explained the reason for his decision, saying, "I turned it down. It's not right to go. And the Iranians should be out too for supplying arms."

Rod Stewart has already been recognized for his achievements and philanthropic donationsto organizations important to his heart. He is recognized for his large heart and willingness to help those in need.

In fact, Rod recently housed a family of Ukrainian refugees who had been rescued from the war in Berkshire, UK.

Rostyslav Kurtiak said Rod saved his family's life by finding them a home and paying their rent.

The family patriarch described the singer as "a very great man" who saved his family from danger in an interview with the Daily Mail.

Rod and his wife Penny stepped in after hearing about the plight of Rostyslav's family, which included his wife and five children, and teamed up with family members to rescue the refugees, organizing three trucks to transport 16 refugees back to safety in Berlin.

Rod Stewart Retiring from Rock n Roll Tour

The "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" singer recently revealed that he will retire from rock n roll touring after 2023, and that popular songs like "Hot Legs" and "Maggie May" will be postponed.

Rod Stewart, on the other hand, has stated that he will continue to perform live, but only in clubs with his guitar.

Calling it an end of an era, the British singer said, "Next year will be the end of my rock 'n' roll tour. I want to do something different. It feels like an end of an era. All things must come to an end."

He will not be touring any longer due to family obligations. Rod has eight children, the youngest of whom are Alastair, 16, and Aiden, 10.

"It takes me away from my kids for so long," he confessed.

Rod went on to say, "It used to be OK because it was fun and games. It is still fun and games but I miss my kids so much."
