Ric Ocasek shocked the world in 2019 because of his untimely passing and his estranged wife, Paulina Porizkova, has detailed what really happened at the time when she found her ex-partner's lifeless body.
According to Page Six, the model recently published a book titled "No Filter: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful" where she recalled some of the most significant happenings in her life.
At the time of the rocker's death, the couple is in the midst of a divorce, but they still lived together in their New York City home.
Ocasek was recovering from surgery when his estranged wife found his body in September 2019.
"His eyes didn't look like his eyes anymore, I knew what those eyes should look like, I knew those eyes so well. I touched his face. It was cold," she wrote.
She further explained that her legs went numb and she couldn't remember how long she sat on the ground.
The hardest part was breaking the sad news to their two sons, Jonathan and Oliver.
"Unable to get up, I crawled down three flights of stairs on my belly and elbows. There were sounds issuing from me that I was only dimly aware of," she recalled.

The ex-lovers first met in 1984 for the music video for "Drive." At the time, the former Sports Illustrated cover girl was just 19 and the musician was 40.
Ocasek had been married twice and was a father of four children when they began their romantic relationship. The pair got married in 1989 after the rocker's divorce from his ex-wife was finalized.
Porizkova and her estranged husband announced their separation in 2018. Despite their ongoing divorce at the time, the two decided to still live together at their townhouse in Gramercy Park.
In 2020, the supermodel said she felt betrayed after she found out her husband removed her from his will.
In a previous article published by Variety, the Cars frontman reportedly died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease per the New York City medical examiner's office.
Porizkova took to Instagram to announce her husband's death, explaining that he died in his sleep following surgery. The musician was 75 years old at the time of his passing.
