Ozzy Osbourne just snagged four Grammy nominations for his most recent album, "Patient Number 9."
The ailing rock superstar released his most recent work earlier this year amid her growing health concerns and his critical surgery and treatment of Parkinson's Disease.
Speaking to Consequence very recently, Osbourne shared his thoughts upon receiving the very encouraging news.
"I'm honestly overwhelmed. Making this record was a great way to me to get back to work as I continued to heal. It's pretty great to be acknowledged at this point in my career," he gushed.
Osbourne received four nods this year. His performance with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, "Degradation Rules," scored a nod on Best Metal Performance, going against Ghost's "Call Me Little Sunshine," Megadeth's "We'll Be Back," Muse's "Kill or Be Killed," and Turnstile's "Blackout.
Meanwhile, his title track, "Patient Number 9," snagged nominations from two major rock categories - Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance. The album of the same name was also nominated for Best Rock Album.
In his career, Osbourne had been nominated eight times prior to this additional four. He managed to win only three - two Best Metal Performance and Best Metal Performance with vocal. Should he win any award for "Patient Number 9," this would mark his first Rock Grammy.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Ozzy recalled how the pandemic had given him enough space to work on his new album, "Patient Number 9."
"Well, the thing was I had all this time - we all did through the pandemic," he recalled to Consequence. "Instead of lying there and just doing my physical therapy, the record actually got me doing something that I love. I was thinking about the times we've been living in. There wasn't much good news. It was a fucking war in Ukraine and the pandemic. The world seemed to be on the brink of a bad thing."
Earlier this year, Ozzy revealed his intentions to go back to the United Kingdom after living for decades in the United States. He pointed out that the growing cases of gun violence in the country are what led him to return overseas.
Meanwhile, he recanted these statements - sharing that it was only the tirades against her wife, Sharon Osbourne, that prompted him to say those in the first place.
