Aaron Carter was the father of an 11-month-old kid named Prince at the time of his death.
He was even attempting to rebuild his life before being discovered dead in his bathtub at his Lancaster, California home on November 5.
However, the "I'm All About You" singer lost custody of his kid a few months before his death when he voluntarily enrolled into a rehab center to fight addiction.
Melanie Martin, Prince's mother, stated at the time that she was suffering from post-partum depression. As a result, the court ordered that their son be placed in Melanie's mother's temporary custody.
Two weeks after Prince's death, Hollywood Life confirmed what will happen to him now that his father is no longer alive.
A spokeswoman for Aaron confirmed that Prince is still in Melanie's mother's custody and will stay so.
They went on to say that everyone feels that Prince is in the finest possible situation with his grandma right now.
Though the spokesman declined to go more, another insider told the newspaper that Aaron Carter had intended to lavish his kid with birthday gifts before his death.
Prince will be one year old on November 22nd.
According to the insider, the "Candy" singer was overjoyed to see his son on his birthday.
"He had said that being a father was the most amazing thing that happened to him and he was really trying to get his life back in order so that he be a present father to his boy."
Aaron's family is also said to agree that Prince should stay with Melanie's mother, and that they intend to be involved in his life and are in contact with her grandmother, "who is more than willing to allow his family access to Prince."
When Aaron Carter's son Prince was born, he expressed his joy with fans on Instagram by uploading a photo of himself cutting the baby's umbilical cord.
When he posted a screenshot of their conversation before heading to the hospital, he told fans that his mom Jane was also excited about the birth of a new baby.
Aaron Carter's body was cremated, and his ashes are now in the possession of his twin sister. His cause of death is still listed as "deferred" as of this writing because authorities are still investigating the tragedy.
Aaron was 34 years old at the time of his death and he was very open about his drug and alcohol addiction.
