Taylor Swift swept awards at the 2022 American Music Awards, reaching a milestone no artist ever experienced yet.
This year's American Music Awards honored Lionel Richie and remembered Olivia Newton-John as the award-giving body recognized more talents in the industry. The star-studded event, hosted by Wayne Brady, also became the venue for Swift to break her own record.
The "Anti-Hero" hitmaker bagged all the awards she was nominated in, bringing home six trophies. The awards are Favorite Female Pop Artist, Favorite Female Country Artist, Favorite Pop Album, Favorite Music Video (All Too Well (10 Minute Version), Favorite Country Album, and Artist of the Year.
Swift scored the latter award for the seventh time since 2009.
The recent six awards helped her gain a total of 40 wins at the AMAs, ultimately putting her at the top of the list of artists with the most wins in the history of the ceremony.
She broke Michael Jackson's record in 2019. The late King of Pop, on the other hand, won 26 awards. Following him on the list is Whitney Houston, who got 22.
"You know, in the past few years, I have released more music than I did in the entire decade preceding that, and I really feel like that's down to the fact that you, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music that I would make," she said in her acceptance speech.
She also took her time to thank her fans who have been there for her since day one. Per Swift, Swifties encouraged her to create more music and feel happier than ever.
Swift ultimately outshined Adele, Bad Bunny, Beyonce, Drake, Harry Styles, and the Weeknd, who were all nominated for the Artist of the Year award.

Her latest win followed her historic stint on the Billboard charts.
After releasing her "Midnights" album, she became the first artist in history to have 10 songs appear on the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 in a single week. The tracks that made it to the list were "Anti-Hero," "Lavender Haze," "Maroon," "Snow on the Beach," "Midnight Rain," "Bejeweled," "Question...?," "You're on Your Own, Kid," "Karma," and "Vigilante Shit."
Swift beat Drake's record. For what it's worth, the rapper once held the title with nine out of 10 songs on the chart following his "Certified Lover Boy" release.
But amid the wins, Swift and her fans are still dealing with "The Eras" ticket sale mishap.
