The world is mourning after the sudden death of Christine McVie and no one is more devastated than one of her best friends, Fleetwood Mac co-member Stevie Nicks, who penned an emotional letter using lyrics from a Haim song.

Taking to her official social media accounts, the "Edge of Seventeen" hitmaker noted that she found out about her good pal's death a few hours ago and she didn't know that the singer has been suffering from an illness until last weekend.

The musician said she wanted to be in London to spend with McVie, but she couldn't as she was told to "wait." Since she couldn't meet her yet at the time, here's a song that constantly plays in her head "over and over."

Hoping that she could sing it to her, Nicks, unfortunately, was not able to see her friend before her death that's why she dedicated a song to her.

On the second page of her handwritten letter posted online, the musician wrote lyrics of a verse from Haim's
"Hallelujah," a song from the band's album "Women in Music Pt. III."

"I had a best friend but she has come to pass / One I wish I could see now / You always remind me that memories will last," some of the lyrics read. (via Billboard)

Stevie Nicks then emotionally wrapped her letter by writing, "see you on the other side, my love. Don't forget me."

The song was reportedly about member Alana Haim's experience when she found out that her best friend had passed away.

The letter was posted hours after McVie's family took to the late singer's Facebook page to announce her death, writing she passed peacefully at a hospital on November 30 while being surrounded by her loved ones.

The family didn't go into details regarding her cause of death, but they noted that the musician died of a short illness.

"We kindly ask that you respect the family's privacy at this extremely painful time," they added.

To conclude the announcement, they wanted fans and other people to remember McVie in their hearts as she was an "incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved" around the world.

Fleetwood Mac also issued their own statement to remember their departed member, saying she was special, talented, and the best musician anyone could have in their group.
