Quentin Oliver Lee's recent death has shaken the Broadway world

Lee's wife, Angie Lee Graham, first confirmed the news in an Instagram post alongside photos of him and their daughter.

"Quentin passed in the wee hours of the morning. It was the most beautiful moment of my life. I saw his last breaths, held his hand tight, and felt his heartbeat slowly drift away. He had a smile on his face, and was surrounded by those he loves. It was peaceful, and perfect," she said.

The bereaved wife called the actor and singer an incredible man with "great faith in his Father in Heaven."

Although he would truly be missed, the wife believed it was not enough for those people whose lives changed because of Lee.

Amid the trying times, she assured everyone that she and their daughter Samantha receive the best love and support from their families and friends.

The specific post did not reveal Quentin Oliver Lee's cause of death, but the previous posts on the Instagram account revealed the tragic battle he fought hard in.

In the months leading to his death, Lee spent his time working in several Broadway shows. At the same time, he found out that he had stage 4 colon cancer.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, colon cancer is mostly referred to as colorectal cancer. It begins in a person's large intestine when polyps form inside the digestive tract.

Among its symptoms include changes in bowel habits, abdominal discomfort, blood in stool, weightloss, and weakness.

In June, Lee himself created a GoFundMe page titled "Battle stage 4 cancer with Quentin Lee." The Metropolitan Opera performer revealed to his fans that he and his family were in need of funds to support his treatment as it was hard for him to make money performing while undergoing chemotherapy.

He aimed to raise $50,000, but the outpouring of love and support from fans made the fundraising receive more than what Lee asked for.

Even after his death, the public still donates to the GoFundMe page as it pays tribute to his life and legacy.

Lee started his career after an agent spotted him singing in the New York subway to earn money for his daily living. He marked his first role in the "Porgy and Bess." From there, he became part of more Broadway shows, including "La Boheme," "Encores!," "Festival of the Lion King," "The Golden Apple," and "The Phantom of the Opera."
