Jamie Spears has now opened up to the world about Britney Spears and the reasons he placed her under conservatorship.
The patriarch retaliated, insisting that he did it to aid the "Baby One More Time" singer and her two children, even though the pop diva felt that her independence had been taken away.
Jamie said in a Daily Mail interview how he was aware that many people would object to placing his daughter under a conservatorship.
He does, however, feel that it is the proper course to take.
He explained, "I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don't know if she'd be alive. I don't."
Jamie said that although his family went through an extremely trying period, they felt it was the right decision to place Britney under conservatorship.
He said that he did it to defend her, Jayden James, and Sean Preston.
He also thinks she wouldn't have been able to get her kids back without the conservatorship.
Since then, Jamie and his daughter have been engaged in a legal dispute.
Britney Spears claimed that while her father was in charge, he treated her brutally. In addition, Jamie is charged with paying a security firm to monitor his daughter's conversations and messages.
The "Oops I Did It Again" singer and her attorney, Matthew Rosengart, are currently looking into the dad's time spent serving as the conservator. The renowned father's financial decisions have also raised concerns for the lawyer.
Her father is hoping that nothing bad happens as a result of Britney's recent social media postsof naked photos.
The father of Britney's two children and ex-husband Kevin Federline has also received praise from Jamie.
"It was us who raised the kids. I just did what I was supposed to do, or felt like I needed to do. I didn't make any decisions on my own - the team of people were me and my associate, and Kevin."
Jamie said that the conservatorship improved their financial situation and that, in his opinion, the purpose of having someone placed under a conservatorship is to enable them to reclaim their lives, reintegrate back into society, and lead regular lives.
He further defended his actions, "I want to say that I made a difference. There were a few people behind me that really helped bring it to a point where we could help her."
