SZA's "SOS" has been a monumental success. The project is expected to debut atop the Billboard 200 albums chart and is bound to be the biggest R&B album to be released this year.

A stellar sequel to its iconic predecessor, "Ctrl," the 23-track project lives up to the five-year wait of SZA's fans.

Over the course of the album, two of the tracks were released beforehand. In 2020, "Good Days" was released as a supposed stand-alone single. Last year, "I Hate U" became one of the biggest hits of the year, thanks to TikTok.

Now, SZA's "SOS received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and fans. Getting five out of five stars from The Daily Telegraph and NME upon its release and scoring a higher rating from Pitchfork compared to "Ctrl" proved just how massive "SOS" is right now.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone's Music Now Podcast, the 33-year-old songstress revealed the origins of the album, how the much-talked-about lyrics speak to her truth, and the cohesive emotion she tries to evoke on the project.

Turns out, most of the bold revelations that were penned in SZA's "SOS" song lyrics stemmed from boredom.

SZA, who was diagnosed with ADHD, admitted that her diagnosis played a huge part in how she can focus on writing for her music, noting that it was "really hard" for her to function in other aspects of her life.

"But it also makes me really bored, like, with everything. So for me to sit out on the album for five years and be working on it and not be bored, I have to start doing completely different things at random times. So it's even the same thing with my own lyrics. It's like, 'ew, this is boring' or 'ew, or I said that already," she revealed.

In her title song, SZA even boldly revealed that she got a Brazilian butt lift so effortlessly it felt like almost a slip of the tongue.

But elsewhere in the interview, SZA confessed that during the five years of putting out the album, the journey was tumultuous and emotionally low at some points.

"Even when I was [doing the] track listing, I was like, 'Ugh, this shit is so boring' or 'it sucks,' or when I couldn't get some of the things I wanted for the initial cover idea or things weren't working out, I'm like, 'let's just put it out with no cover and just leave everything blank," she said.
