Lizzo just got a fangirl-worthy moment as a certified "band geek," when her childhood idol wished her a Merry Christmas and proclaimed that he is her "number one fan."
One of the "Truth Hurts" singer's idols from childhood up until adulthood, James Galway, sent a personal message to Lizzo, playing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" with the flute.
He simply said: "Merry Christmas Lizzo, from your number one fan," which caused the singer to break down over the fangirl video, which she shared on Instagram.
She captioned the video with "Yall-Sir James Galway wished me a Merry Christmas," with three shocked emojis. "Price went all the way up."
In a follow-up Instagram Story, the 34-year-old showed just how merry her Christmas just became after his sweet greeting, although she looked completely stunned.
"Is that f**king James? Is that f**king James Galway?" She asked as she wiped her tears away.
Lizzo's reaction is totally understandable! After all, she is a "band geek," and she reportedly listened to Galway play the flute since she was in the 5th grade.
'Band Geek'
Although most know Lizzo as a singer and hitmaker, she also happens to be a musician.
In several instances now, she has shown audiences and fans just how skilled she is in playing the flute.
"I was playing a lot by ear," she revealed in an interview back in 2019. "But I wouldn't play, like, songs on the radio. I would play, like, James Galway, like, 'The Man with the Golden Flute.'"
Lizzo's dedication to her craft stems back to her childhood when she strived for perfection.
"And I learned that, like, by osmosis basically, by listening to it, by tryin' to get the sounds down. And then I would read the sheet music. I wanted to be the best at a very young age," she continued.
Aside from her dedication to her craft, she was also evidently very passionate about music and took the measures to hone her skill further-in fact, she calls herself a "band geek."
She said: "I don't think you're a band geek if you're just in a band. I was a band geek, because I took band to the next level. Like, would voluntarily go to band camp."
Her dreams of making a name for herself as a flutist might have been realized when she was offered to play former President James Madison's flute by the Library of Congress, Forbes reported.
The crystal flute she was seen playing is one of the rarest of the late president's instruments, and impressed not only her fans but as well as historians, who noted that Lizzo's performance with the crystal flute was "a perfect moment to show a new generation how we preserve the country's rich cultural heritage."
