Nile Rodgers Reveals He's 42 Months Cancer Free

Great news for disco legend Nile Rodgers: he's cancer free. The disco legend revealed via Twitter that he got the all-clear on his latest biannual check-up and is officially 42 months clear of the disease.

The 61-year-old guitarist and producer documented his battle with prostate cancer on his personal blog. Earlier this year, he revealed in a post called "When Cancer Was Killing Me" that his initial diagnosis was "an extremely aggressive form of cancer" and that music was pivotal in helping him throughout the battle.

One project in particular that filled him with hope following his diagnosis was an orchestral project called The Night of the Proms, which debuted in the United States earlier this summer.

As Billboard points out, Rodgers shared the happy news just hours before his show at Britain's V Festival, where he played with his group Chic. The set was full of hits and a surprise performance from Sam Smith, who joined the band on stage for a rendition of "Together," Billboard reports.

In other Nile Rodgers news, it was recently revealed that the legend is working alongside Mark Ronson with Duran Duran on their 14th studio album, which is tentatively due out the spring of 2015.
