It's been 20 years since the hit country trio McBride & The Ride last recorded an album and it appears that OG fans are getting a treat this year as the group is currently working on new music and have just released a new single.
Speaking in a new interview with People Magazine, Ray Herndon said they previously released their version of The Who's "Squeeze Box" and it was not well-received by the public because it wasn't "the right message" to play on the radio at the time.
The singer said it could have been a big hit for the three of them but it didn't take off.
Since then, the band didn't put out new music, until after two decades when he attended former bandmate Terry McBride's solo show in Arizona.
Even though they have disbanded a long time ago, the musician said they kept in touch with each other, but they never really got a chance to bond over music.
However, on the night of McBride's solo show, Herndon was called up on stage and performed their song "Sacred Ground."
Speaking about their performance, the singer said, " it was just like riding a bike. It's like we had never stopped."
Since then, a realization hit the three members; they immediately reunited to record new music for their fans after years of not putting out anything.
"We're still able and young enough and we all have the passion... So, we all thought we should try to do this again," he added.
McBride & The Ride, which also includes Billy Thomas as one of their members, just released a new song in 20 years called "Marlboros & Avon."
Thomas said it's amazing to think how easy it is for them to come back together because each and every member of the band is talented in their own unique way.
Although the track heavily resembles their classic 90s harmonies, they didn't want to rely just on that sound as they wanted to explore creative outlets.
"We didn't want to just be that '90s band that just relied on those '90s," McBride said, adding they wanted to build on the song and create more music.
McBride & The Ride will be releasing a new EP this summer that would contain four songs. (via The Music Universe)
