This week is jury selection week in XXXTentacion's murder trial.
The rapper's mother would be required to reveal how much money she received after XXXTentacion's death, according to an effective argument made by the attorney for one of the individuals accused of being involved in the murder.
Three of the four men accused of killing XXXTentacion, actual name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, in 2018, had a hearing on Monday. Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome are the names of these persons.
Per Local10, Michael's attorney was successful in getting Cleopatra Bernard, the rapper's mother, to reveal how much money she made after her son's passing. This was approved by the trial's judge.
According to court records acquired by XXL, Cleopatra's attorney has been opposing Michael's attorney's move to compel, arguing that the information should not be made public since it is "irrelevant and extremely sensitive."
Court records further read, "For the reasons set forth, below defendant has no entitlement to the discovery he seeks concerning the assets of Ms. Bernard because the discovery requested by the defendant is not relevant to any matters pending before this court."
However, the judge agreed with the suspect's legal team and demanded that Cleopatra disclose how much money she made following XXXTentacion's passing.
The fourth defendant in the case, Robert Allen, struck a plea deal in August and is reportedly testifying against the other three accused.
He admitted guilt to a lesser included felony of second-degree murder and robbery with a firearm, according to NBC Miami's story from the previous year. He is still looking at a life sentence.
According to AllHipHop, prosecutors allegedly have a "smoking gun."
They allegedly made the connection between the murder weapon and a live bullet discovered at Dedrick Williams' residence. A minute prior to the shooting, Dedrick's phone apparently pinged at RIVA Motorsports in Florida, where the rapper was slain.
On June 18, 2018, XXXTentacion was shot and killed. He was just twenty.
In South Florida, he was looking at bikes, and as he was leaving the store, a shooter approached his car and began firing at him.
The rapper was already in court awaiting trial for domestic abuse against his pregnant girlfriend, but he was also accused of witness tampering and was charged with other felonies.
Charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery were brought against the four accused. If found guilty, they might get the death penalty or a sentence of life in prison.
