XXXTENTACION died five years ago today and despite him being deceased for years, fans can still feel his presence as his team dropped a new song.
According to Hip Hop DX, the musician died at the age of 20 years old in 2018, and to honor his memory on his fifth death anniversary, his team released a track titled "I'm Not Human."
The song was initially teased earlier this year and many fans have been expecting it to drop on his 25th birthday, but it was put on hold for a while.
The new track, which sounds different from his previous releases as it heavily revolved around acoustic, features vocals by Lil Uzi Vert. It was produced by his collaborator John Cunningham.

The record producer took to his official Instagram Stories to give fans more context about the track.
Beginning his statement, the musician recalled his time living with the rapper, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, saying they would bond with each other through music, specifically playing guitar and singing in his room.
"The day he first sang 'I'm not human' as I was playing that guitar part we both looked at each other and cracked a smile, knowing it was special. We listened back to the voice memo he recorded and talked about finishing it," he said.

He later explained that whenever they try to work the song out in the recording studio, XXXTENTACION would never feel the same way he felt during their first recording, leading John Cunningham to retain the original voice memo on the latest track.
The musician said he had been discussing with Lil Uzi Vert about a posthumous release since 2018, but at the time, they didn't feel like dropping the song and they collectively agreed to wait for something to "feel right" instead of pushing it.

Fortunately, when Cleo and Lil Uzi Vert reconnected late last year, Cunningham and the rapper had a "heartfelt conversation."
When he played the song, which was not touched since 2018, all of their conversations had led up to the track's release.
The song was further enhanced when Uzi's vocals were added to it and harmonized throughout the song.
XXXTENTACION's "I'm Not Human" is now available for streaming on major music platforms like Spotify.
