'Shattered' Austin Butler Mourns Lisa Marie Presley's Death: Actor Made Her Cry on Golden Globes

Hollywood has been mourning after the tragic passing of Elvis Presley's only child, Lisa Marie Presley, last Jan. 12, 2023. Since then, tributes for the late music prodigy have been up on social media - remembering the talent and the life loss.

Presley's death came days after "Elvis" actor, Austin Butler, earned the 2023 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a motion picture - Drama for his iconic portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll in the movie.

In a statement, Butler eulogizes Presley's death which he described to have "completely shattered" him.

"My heart is completely shattered for Riley, Finley, Harper, and Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie. I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, her love and her authenticity will always be remembered," he said in a statement as quoted by Billboard.

Lisa is survived by her children - 33-year-old actress Riley Keough, twins Finley & Harper Lockwood, and her mother, Priscilla Presley. Lisa's son Benjamin Keough, died three years ago, due to a self-inflicted gunshot, with authorities listing his death as suicide.

Lisa was spotted along with her mother, Priscilla, last Jan. 10, 2023, at the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The awards ceremony was Lisa's last public appearance.

At the ceremony, when Butler received his award, Lisa and Priscilla were seen moved by the actor's speech, which she and her mother also got a shout-out on:

"I owe this to a bold, visionary filmmaker who allowed me to experience, to take risks, and I always knew I would be supported - Baz Luhrmann, I love you. Thank you, guys, thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, and your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever," he said during the speech. "[Elvis,] You were an icon and a rebel, and I love you so much."

Sources said that Lisa was found unconscious by her housekeeper and was given CPR by his husband, Danny Keough, who was at her home too. As soon as paramedics rushed her to the hospital, TMZ reported that she was even put in a medically-induced coma before she had a cardiac arrest which ultimately led to her demise.
