The official report on Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death would not be released anytime soon, sources said.
Presley's cardiac arrest has been gaining the spotlight as it caused the late singer-songwriter to be hospitalized before ultimately leading to her death. However, the health condition was reportedly not the final cause.
Unnamed sources told a news outlet that an autopsy was already done on Saturday. However, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office reportedly could not release the official cause of death as it is still waiting for the toxicology test results.
The pending documents might reportedly reveal what exactly caused her death as it would share what might have been in her system before her passing.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is yet to comment on the said update.
Presley, Elvis and Priscilla Presley's only child, died Thursday after being rushed to a hospital following a cardiac arrest. She was put on life support and medically induced coma in an intensive care yet, but she died a few hours later.
"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," her mother said, per Associated Press. "She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known."
Although her health issue was known to the public, some internet users talked about her addiction to opioid painkillers in the past, which potentially played a role in her death.
Lisa Marie Presley's Addiction Battles
Before her death, the late singer-songwriter opened up about her addiction to painkillers and opioids in a book.
In the foreword of Harry Nelson's The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain, Presley said she "fell prey to opioids" after losing people close to her. She seemingly referenced the deaths of her father Elvis and ex-husband, Michael Jackson.
She noted that, in 2008, her doctor prescribed opioids for pain when she was recovering after the births of Vivienne and Finley. It reportedly took her a short time to suddenly feel the need to keep taking the drug.
"Even in recent years, I have seen too many people I loved struggle with addiction and died tragically from this epidemic," she continued. "It is time for us to say goodbye to shame about addiction."
Presley said her children continuously make her stay sober, expressing how grateful she feels to be alive after going through dark times.
