On April 30, 2022, just one day after she was scheduled to attend the Country Music Hall of Fame medallion ceremony, Naomi Judd passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
She had been upfront about her mental health issues, but a note she wrote before killing herself revealed what had been going through her head in the moments before.
The country queen was reportedly writing on a Post-It pad when initially discovered, according to Radar Online
"Do not let Wy come to my funeral. She's mentally ill." She had a line drawn under the word "not."
It wasn't known if she and her daughter, who makes up The Judds, had a falling out before to her passing. Radar Online also said that Naomi Judd was experiencing "mental anguish" as a result of her 10-show farewell tour with Wynonna.
According to a source who spoke to the site, the mom-of-two was having personal problems with her mental health and was under strain from her difficult tour dates, which were reportedly scheduled to begin in September 2022.
Just weeks before the former committed suicide, Naomi and Wynonna said on April 11 that they would be hitting the road once more after more than ten years.
Stops were made in Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Michigan during the 10-show tour.
The insider claims that Naomi "always snapped straight into her position in the pair and performed superbly," despite Wynonna having to "practically drag her mom kicking and screaming to undertake the many Judds reunion tours they've staged" over the years.
The insider continued by saying that while Wynonna didn't anticipate any differences from the brief tour, her mother's mental state has recently deteriorated, making even the slightest amount of strain enough to push her over the brink.
The entire family will have to live with the grief for the rest of their life.
Later, Wynonna said that she will continue the last tour in memory of her late mother.

According to a different source, Naomi's eldest daughter went to her funeral even though her mother had instructed her not to because she believe her mother didn't mean what she had said in the suicide note.
The source went on to say that Wynonna experienced Naomi's mental illness and suicide thoughts with her for years.
They traveled the globe and rose to fame as The Judds, but that also led to a great deal of friction.
