"He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django," the Crosby family said in a statement obtained by CNN. "Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music."
At the time of his death, did his net worth reach a whopping amount?
David Crosby's Net Worth
Celebrity Net Worth estimated that, upon his passing, David Crosby's net worth reached the $10 million mark.
Crosby started his career as a professional musician in 1964. He initially performed with several artists, including Terry Callier, before he finally landed a permanent spot on The Byrds.
The band released several hit songs, including "Mr. Tambourine Man," "Turn! Turn! Turn!" "Fifth Dimension," "Younger Than Yesterday," "The Notorious Byrd Brothers," "Ballad of Easy Rider," "Farther Along," and "Byrds," among others.
Its final album was released in 1973, but its surviving members usually reunited despite their successful careers as soloists.
After leaving The Byrds, Crosby met Stephen Stills and created Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young alongside Graham Nash and Neil Young. Throughout the rock supergroup's on-and-off performances, it successfully scored several accolades and nominations.
Crosby's times with the groups made him earn millions, but he earned more when he started his solo career in 1971. His first solo album, "If I Could Only Remember My Name," became one of the Best Albums recognized by different publications.
He also expanded his career as a politician and actor. For his acting career, Crosby made guest appearances in "The John Larroquette Show." He also starred in more series and movies, including "Hook," "Backdraft," "Thunderheart," "The Simpsons," and "Roseanne."
However, Crosby's net worth was also challenged several times because of his legal issues. The singer spent jail time for possession of heroin and cocaine in 1985.
During the same year, he was arrested again for drunken driving, possession of a concealed pistol and drug paraphernalia, and a hit-and-run driving accident.
In 2004, he received weapon and drug-related charges again.
