Dr. Dre ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: Nominates Eminem, Snoop Dogg & Kendrick Lamar [WATCH]

Dr. Dre is the latest music star to get ice poured on his head for a good cause.

The difference with Dre's stunt? He's lined up a trio of hip-hop legends for ice showers of their own in the coming days.

Challenged by Apple CEO Tim Cook to take the plunge, so to speak, Dre sat underneath some sort of roped-bucket system that dumped ice water over his head and body. Before the damage was done, however, he nominated Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar to do the same and help raise awareness and funds to combat ALS.

The New York Times reports that the Ice Bucket Challenge has helped raise more than $13 million in donations over the past three weeks:

People have shared more than 1.2 million videos on Facebook between June 1 and Aug. 13 and mentioned the phenomenon more than 2.2 million times on Twitter since July 29, according to those sites. Donations to the ALS Association have spiked. As of Sunday, the association said it had received $13.3 million in donations since July 29, compared with $1.7 million during the same period last year. It said there were about 260,000 new donors. (With a spate of celebrities and business executives joining in over the past few days and pledging contributions, that number is expected to rise.)

The craze began after a 29-year-old man named Pete Frates dumped an ice bucket over his head nearly three weeks ago.

Frates, who suffers from ALS and can no longer speak, started a trend that has now reached the upper echelon of American society. Drake is the latest celebrity to pull off the stunt. He joins "Weird" Al Yankovic, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and hundreds of others who have recently been chilled for charity.
