Before he died, David Crosby was working on new music and planning a tour. Could his unfinished album become a posthumous offering? We have to wait and see.

The rock legend died on January 18 at the age of 81 after a "long illness."

He was a founding member of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. But, according to his guitarist Steve Postell, in the week before he died, he was "writing, playing, and singing his a** off" and was planning to release a new album and hit the road.

Steve told Variety that David joked all the time that he didn't think he would last for years. But they had no reason to think they wouldn't be able to put on this show and go on these tours.

They were talking about tour buses and what kinds of venues to play, and the whole team was back together again, including the road manager, tour manager, and sound guys, on top of this band that they have put together, Steve said.

He added that they had no doubt at all that they were almost ready to take on the world. And it's too bad that people couldn't hear what they have worked on.

He also said that Crosby was playing them new songs and asking what they think of these words.

He still had the spark, Steve revealed. People should know that he was on it.

For Free," which came out in 2021, was the artist's last studio album. In 1964, Crosby joined the Byrds, and they quickly became one of the most popular groups in the world. One of their big hits was a cover of "Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan. But Crosby left the group on bad terms in 1967, and he then joined forces with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash to form Crosby, Stills and Nash. The three musicians played together for the first time at the famous Woodstock festival in 1969. Neil Young joined them later.

Crosby, Stills, and Nash had a lot of success in the 1970s, and many people still think of them as one of the most important bands of that time. But despite their success, the band members often fought with each other, which caused them to break up and then get back together to play again.
