T.I. Joins Marvel's 'Ant-Man,' Resumes Movie Career

T.I. is headed back to the silver screen.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the Atlanta rapper (born Tip Harris) will have a role in Marvel's Ant-Man. The film, directed by Peyton Reed, began principal photography on Monday in San Francisco, and is scheduled for a July 2015 release.

Ant-Man will also feature Paul Rudd (as the main character), Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Abby Ryder Fortson, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer and John Slattery.

But many eyes will be on Harris as he attempts add another solid acting gig to his Hollywood resume.

Known primarily in movie circles for his starring role in 2006's ATL (some say it's the G.O.A.T., but haters gonna hate), Harris also landed parts in American Gangster, as well as television's Boss and House of Lies.

This March, he sat down with HypeTrack to discuss the origins of his acting career.

You know what, with the examples that were laid before me like Ice Cube, I knew if I did a lot of things right then I would have the opportunity to end up where others did. But it wasnt until I got my first shot at it and finished my first movie and I saw how good it turned out, that I knew I could actually act. Even during ATL, I didn't know if I was doing a good job or a bad job. The studio was raving over the performance and I took that as an opportunity to keep going.

Acting is something I can do until I'm 50, 60. I don't see music as something I can do when I'm that old. I'm setting my self up to transition.
