Stevie Nicks rose to popularity and one of the reasons why she amassed many fans was because of Fleetwood Mac. By the time she became a solo artist in the early 80s, it was the same era when MTV was very in demand, which required many musicians to film highly-creative and dramatic music videos.
According to the book "Gold Dust Woman: The Biography of Stevie Nicks," the musician went all out during her solo career, especially with her song "Stand Back."
Director Brian Grant visualized something unique and would convince Hollywood producers that he has the ability to create and direct films.
In a documentary titled "I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution," Grant revealed his main inspiration for the music video was "Gone with the Wind" and he envisioned Nicks riding a horse.
The singer agreed to participate and was ready to remake the classic movie despite the total running time being shorter than usual as they have to compress the visuals into a three-minute music video.
However, little did the production know, the budget will be higher than expected to the point that some of the crew accidentally set fire on set. In addition, Nicks wasn't pleased with her acting skills at the time, especially when she filmed a scene that requires her to ride a horse while wearing a dress.
In a previous statement, the Fleetwood Mac songstress confirmed that she "almost got killed" while riding the horse as the animal "bolted into a grove of trees" and the crew on set were telling her to jump off.
Fortunately for the singer, she wasn't hurt during the process, but she wasn't happy with the final result to the point that she didn't want the music video to come out even though it would cost them a fortune.
The video was shelved and Nick's team found a different director. The second music video was much simple than the first ide as there were only dance routines under a mood light while the singer sings into the camera.
Fast forward to today, Stevie Nicks continues to thrive in the music industry and would even perform at 14 solo concerts in the coming weeks.
According to Rolling Stone, the "Edge of Seventeen" songstress' tour will begin at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, on March 15, before visiting several cities across the United States that will wrap up at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 27.
For fans who wanted to see Nicks perform live, tickets will be available starting on January 28 at 10 a.m. local time. More information and the complete tour dates are available at the singer's official website.
