Released back in 2016, "La La Land" took the world by storm. People couldn't stop gushing about leading costars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's dynamic chemistry as well as the bittersweet ending.
The film is a romantic comedy musical that follows the characters of Stone, an aspiring actress, and Gosling, a struggling musician.
If the prompts aren't clear enough, perhaps the most popular scene in this film is the iconic dance scene in a park, overlooking Los Angeles, which might jog your memory.
After premiering at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in August 2016, the world was completely taken by the film as well as the accompanying musical soundtrack.
Now, seven years later, it is heading right toward Broadway, and along with it is the same team that was behind the Oscar-winning film.
'La La Land' Goes to Broadway
According to the Guardian, the exciting news was announced by the "La La Land" producer, Marc Platt, noting that the film will yet again captivate audiences, but through a different media.
"I'm thrilled to reunite with Lionsgate and the incredible team behind La La Land to adapt the movie for the Broadway stage, the next exciting chapter in its evolution," he said.
"We've assembled a world-class team to create a musical that will delight La La Land's millions of current fans and introduce the property to a whole new audience."
The Broadway show will be based on the Damien Chazelle-directed movie, of course, but the musical will be under the helm of multi-awarded director, Bartlette Sher.
The same highly talented and industry-recognized and awarded team who made "La La Land" come alive the first time, like composer Justin Hurwitz, and composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, will all be taking part in the Broadway musical production, Deadline reported.
According to reports, prior to having a Broadway musical adaptation, "La La Land" enjoyed a long, successful run as a concert, and it has been touring since 2017.
"La La Land" bagged six Oscar Awards, including some of the biggest awards of the night: best actress for Stone and best director for Chazelle.
Ironically, when asked if he saw the film being adapted into a Broadway musical several years back, Chazelle did not close his doors, and in fact, agreed that it was possible "maybe one day in the future."
It seems like that day has arrived.
