The Pink Floyd feud continues as David Gilmour and Polly Samson both throw a myriad of accusations against Roger Waters, like being a lip syncher, misogynist, antisemite, and tax evader among others.
Samson, Gilmour's wife, took to social media to hurl criticisms against Waters: "Sadly, [Waters], you are antisemitic to your rotten core."
"Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense."
Shortly after the tweet was published, Gilmour hopped on the hate train, and retweeted it. As a former member of the rock band, he probably knows a thing or two about Waters that the fans don't, because he added: "Every word demonstrably true."
Fans' reactions to the accusations were mixed, while sadly noted that the band's reunion might never come to fruition.
"Wow. I guess that means the Pink Floyd reunion is off then," a Twitter user wrote.
"I just read his interview with the German paper. He has completely lost it. To think that a man whose father died fighting fascists would spend his years of dotage as a mouthpiece for fascists! It's a depressing spectacle," wrote another.
On the other hand, Waters' fans also shared their two cents: "I so look forward to [Waters'] lawsuit against you. Literally, nothing you said about him is true. You must be a profoundly unhappy person to spew such vile nonsense."
What's the Truth?
According to Rolling Stone, Waters talked about politics, such as a "kill list that is being supported by the Ukrainian government," as well as claims that NATO influenced Russia's President Putin to invade Ukraine, and several other claims.
"I can live with myself and go to sleep at night knowing that the story that is being sold by the Western media is propaganda, and it is not the truth. I know the truth," he said. "And I'm sure about that."
Furthermore, according to the Guardian, Waters has been accused of antisemitism several times before, but the accusations of tax evading and lip-synching are unfounded as of this writing.
As a response to Samson and Gilmour, Waters issued a short statement that was shared through his social media.
Roger Waters is aware of the incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson which he refutes entirely. He is currently taking advice as to his position."
There is no word on whether Waters will pursue the matter legally, however, many fans are insisting that he does.
