Andy Taylor is keeping his head up amid his tough cancer battle.
Taylor has been open about his cancer battle ever since his bandmates in Duran Duran shared his heartbreaking diagnosis at their 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. The band revealed that he was diagnosed with the dreaded disease four years ago.
As he continues to fight for his life, the guitarist sat down for an exclusive interview with People and shared how his battle started.
The musician disclosed that he started to notice something was off when he was jogging. At that time, he reportedly felt "arthritic pain" but shrugged it off. He eventually noticed a pair of lumps in his lymph nodes, making him ask himself when he last had a PSA test.
Taylor's father passed away because of prostate cancer. Thus, his family has a history of the disease.
"As harsh as it is, it's a death sentence," he said. "So you sort of walk out of the hospital in a stunned silence, because you could never be prepared for ... you've got to start from the fact that it's a slow burn, so it's not going to take you quickly."
Despite his health battle, he made his upcoming solo record, "Man's a Wolf to Man." Taylor then told the news outlet that he knew he had not done his last music project yet.
The guitarist said he is trying to stay alive and live a life he is not giving up on despite his cancer diagnosis.
Duran Duran's Andy Taylor Wants To Spread Awareness
As his battle continues, Taylor expressed his desire to raise awareness about prostate cancer.
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's Dr. Bilal Siddiqui urges men between 55 to 69 to seek consultation and ask their doctors about getting screened.
By sharing his story with the public, Taylor is hopeful he can inspire and help others with his story.
"If I could get a genie out of a bottle and make one wish, it's that nobody ever has to go through what I went through," he went on.
