Michael Kupper, popularly known for his moniker "Majk Moti" and being the guitarist of the heavy metal group Running Wild in the 80s, has passed away at the age of 65.

The tragic news was confirmed by his former bandmates Jens Becker and Stefan Schwarzmann who both took to their respective social media accounts, with the former writing, "RIP my old friend. Have a safe trip dear Majk."

The other band member expressed similar feelings, saying he received sad news about his good pal's passing. As of this writing, Kupper's cause of death has yet to be publicized by his family.

According to Loudwire, the German heavy metal band was founded in 1976 and they were formerly known as Granite Heart. In their home country, many consider them one of the most legendary groups in the genre during the mid-80s.

Later in their career, they changed their name to Running Wild after Judas Priest released a song of the same name. Initially, their lyrics and visuals heavily revolved around satanic imagery, but they later changed it into war, pirates, and historical stories.

Despite being in the industry for decades, they remain active up to this day. Their last project was a studio album titled "Blood on Blood" released in 2021.

Per the outlet, Kupper replaced Gerald "Preacher" Warnecke in 1985 and his first major project with the group was during their "Branded and Exiled" era.

He later worked with the German band for the next five years and contributed to several records, including his last one, "Death or Glory," in 1989.

The following year, he was replaced by Axel Morgan, but the reason for his departure from the group was not revealed.

According to Blabbermouth, the guitarist later worked as a computer programmer for 15 years. He later spent his career working in the digital advertising industry.

Despite switching career paths, the musician still went back to his musical roots as he founded his own band with his wife Melanie Dorca-Ruiz. He was also associated with other groups like Metallian, Wild Knight, Gate, and Random.

Following his death, many fans took to social media to express their sadness and send their deepest condolences, with one writing, "Pouring out one for #MajkMoti #RunningWild today Rest in Peace."
