Andrew Lloyd Webber was tapped to write an anthem for King Charles III's coronation.
Buckingham Palace, per CNN World's report, revealed that King Charles selected Webber to write the flagship anthem for his coronation. The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II will formally be crowned on May 6 at Westminster Abbey, London, alongside Camilla, Queen Consort.
The Palace said the monarch personally selected the musical program to be used during the service.
"A range of musical styles and performers blend tradition, heritage, and ceremony with new musical voices of today, reflecting The King's lifelong love and support of music and the arts," Buckingham Palace continued.
In total, they prepared 12 new pieces for the coronation, including six orchestral, five choral, and one organ commission piece.
For Webber's part, the composer expressed his gratitude and honor to be involved in the making. He revealed that his anthem for King Charles has words that are slightly adapted from Psalm 98. He added that he created the whole score exactly fitted for Westminster Abbey's instruments.
Webber then said how much he hopes his anthem would "reflect" on King Charles III's coronation.
The other new works have been created by "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" composer Patrick Doyle, Roderick Williams, Debbie Wiseman, Nigel Hess, Sarah Class, Judith Weir, Tarik O'Regan, Paul Mealor, Roxanna Panufnik, Shirley J. Thompson, and Paul Mealor.
King Charles' coronation will also feature historic music, which have been part of past coronation services. The program will also offer a musical tribute to Prince Philip, King Charles III's late father.
