Last year, James Bay released his album "Leap" and it appears that the musician is already working on his next album as he revealed in a recent interview that he's going to pay homage to his guitar-oriented roots; when is it coming out?
According to NME, the songwriter wanted to honor his past back when he was playing open mic gigs during the early days of his music career.
Speaking to a recent interview with Guitar.com, the musician said a lot of his favorite work of his "hereos" was recorded either the first or second time. The singer explained, "It had that sort of carefree [nature], 'Let's just do it. Emote and move on to the next thing.' I'm trying to do that at the moment."
Throughout his songwriting process, the musician said he experienced recording an album piece by piece in the past. However, his recent routine was standing in front of a microphone with his guitar like he used to do when he was starting out.
"I'm just singing the song in. No click. Nothing. Just a performance. And it's fun! It's sort of freeing to not have to sort of stress over all the minute details," he added.
Despite being an artist for years, James Bay is still hoping to have room for improvement as he wanted to hone his guitar skills as it is the main instrument that will be used in his next album.
"I will always stand up on stage with a guitar in my hand, so I think, in the studio, I'm gonna give myself a little bit more to do with the guitar," he added.
This was not the first time Bay opened up about his upcoming project as he previously spoke to Hollywood Life to promote his Fender American Vintage II collaboration.
At the time, he gave fans an insight about what type of music he'll release in the future, saying it's possible for him to drop a record consisting of purely instrumental tracks.
In other updates, the singer-songwriter is excited being a first-time father as he welcomed his baby in 2021, saying it's the "most euphoric wonderful and terryfing" feeling ever.
Although he loved every single moment with his child, he felt awful for leaving her for him to work on music and perform at his series of concerts.
