Lisa Marie Presley is no longer here to celebrate Austin Butler's milestones after the actor portrayed Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis."
Butler always includes the Presley family in his acceptance speeches whenever he wins an award related to his portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll. Previously, he was still able to mark his win alongside Lisa Marie Presley and Priscilla.
However, the former is no longer there to celebrate with him.
On Sunday, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards held its annual ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Butler scored big win again after winning the Leading Actor award for his role in the 2022 film, "Elvis."
But instead of a full-packed celebratory speech, the young actor called the moment "bittersweet" during his acceptance speech as he paid tribute to the late singer-songwriter. He thanked the Presley family for helping him by sharing who the "Can't Help Falling in Love" singer was.
"I want to thank my family. You are my everything and last thing, I want to thank the Presley family," he said. "I can't thank you guys enough for love, thanks for sharing with me who Elvis truly was. I hope I made you proud. This means the world to me. Thank you so much."
Butler noted how things had been a rollercoaster lately. With those events, his recent victory became sentimental.
With Lisa Marie Presley's death, he expressed how much he wishes she was here to mark the newest milestone in his career. He also let the crowd know his appreciation for the times he spent with her and how he would cherish those things for the rest of his life.
Previously, Austin Butler's acceptance speech at the Golden Globes also included his love message to Lisa Marie and her mom, Priscilla.
Austin Butler Scores More Chances To Gain Victorious Feat After "Elvis"
Following BAFTA, Butler is also up to win at another prestigious ceremony.
The 31-year-old actor scored his first Best Actor Oscar nomination for the same biopic. During a remote interview with USA Today, he revealed that learning about the nomination made him try to figure out whether he was dreaming or not.
It reportedly took him some time before the reality sunk in.
Butler is up to win the award against other nominees: "The Banshees of Inisherin" star Colin Farrell, "The Whale" Brendan Fraser, "Aftersun" actor Paul Mescal, and "Living" Bill Nighy.
