Y&T frontman Dave Meniketti gave a positive update regarding his current health amid his prostate cancer battle.

It took Meniketti a long time before sharing his cancer battle with his fans. He first opened up about it in an interview in February 2022, and the diagnosis affected his shows with Y&T.

A year after he confirmed his battle with the dreaded illness, he shared his current status after receiving radiation treatment.

On Y&T's official Twitter page, the 69-year-old singer graced a tweet with a new photo of him alongside a confirmation that he is now in complete remission.

"Just thought I'd update those of you who have been curious about my prostate cancer diagnosis last year, of which I finished treatments for back in July," he wrote. "This morning, I just had a follow-up with my oncologist. From his mouth - I am in total remission!"

Meniketti took away his fans' worries by assuring them that he is feeling "close to normal" after the completion of his treatments.

Meanwhile, his fans immediately sent him continuous well-wishes as they expressed their excitement to see him on stage with the band again.

According to the National Cancer Institute, remission in cancer means the signs and symptoms are reduced. It is divided into two categories - partial and complete.

For Meniketti's part, the musician experienced complete remission. If he can maintain it for five years or more, he might be considered cured, although some cancer cells may remain in his body for years after the treatment.

Dave Meniketti's Cancer Battle

Two months after revealing his cancer diagnosis for the first time, he opened up more during his appearance on the April 20 episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk."

The frontman recalled (via Blabbermouth) hurting his back in 2018 that, which caused them to cancel the band's entire European tour. During his hospital stay, he realized he had not had a PSA test. The test determines whether a person possibly has prostate cancer.

However, he skipped his yearly exams for a year or two. When he underwent the test, the result came back high and led him to see his urologist.

His doctor then told Meniketti they would need to take a biopsy and send the specimen to the laboratory. Although the first results came back negative, they decided he would take a PSA test every six months.

Meniketti's PSA test soon reached 6.25, and that was when his doctor declared he had prostate cancer.

He was given choices for his illness: either take out his prostate completely or treat it with radiation. He opted for the latter due to the first's higher risks due to his age.
