Young Thug's trial for his grand jury indictment for conspiring to violate the RICO act in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Grammy-nominated rapper has been in jail since May 2022 after he and Gunna turned themselves in voluntarily.

Since January 2023, the trial has been set in motion, and which prosecution has been relentlessly working hard to come up with the jury selection for the upcoming high-profile trial.

In an exclusive report from AllHipHop, more than a thousand jurors were reported to be called in.

They obtained documents by the publication which show that the jury clerk will finally be serving the subpoenas that will require the appearance of 1,200 trial jurors.

The 1,200 jurors will then be dispersed on different dates. Three hundred jurors on selected hearing dates will be summoned to the court - February 27, March 17, April 28, and May 19, all on the morning hearings at 9:30 a.m.

Jurors were also reported to be watching the pre-recorded reading of the indictment for the RICO YSL case. They will also be hearing the preliminary jury instructions from the presiding judge, Ural Glanville, on the aforementioned dates.

The said Young Thug jurors will also be required to answer a questionnaire, including swearing in under oath and returning them to the jury before leaving. The mental and physical disabilities of such jurors will also be examined.

According to HipHopDX, the trial will most likely take place for more than six months because of how extensive the whole thing would be.

As for the Young Thug trial witnesses, music executives from Warner Music Group, YouTube, and even 300 Entertainment, will be called on the stand, including prominent rappers in the music industry.

Young Thug was charged with:

  • one count of conspiracy to violate Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act,
  • possession of a firearm while committing a felony,
  • possession of a machine gun,
  • two counts of participating in a criminal street activity,
  • three counts of violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act,
  • and one charge of street racing.

Last December 2022, many were shocked as Gunna, Young Thug's close collaborator, a key member of the YSL Records group, including a few other associates of Thugger, took a plea deal in exchange for a commuted sentence.
