Americans often take for granted how often we get great music tours passing through. Fans in other parts of the world only get the chance to see their favorite bands once every couple of years, if that. So Bruce Springsteen fans down under should consider themselves blessed that the The Boss and the E Street Band are making a second trip to Australia, less than a year after the group's previous foray. Springsteen says that continent's earned them however.
"Our shows in Australia earlier this year were among the very best and most satisfying of our whole 128 show tour," Springsteen manager Jon Landau said in a statement. "The crowds were tremendous, the fans as warm, friendly and welcoming as we could ever hope for, and the quality of the performances, as virtually every reviewer commented, were spectacularly high."
Landau also said the group plans on making this its most extensive Australian tour ever, just to see if fans are just as receptive in other locales.
"From the moment we finished the second show at Hanging Rock on March 31st, we have been working on a plan to return next year," he said. "Among other things, we wanted to expand the number of places we play to include the Hunter Valley, Perth and Adelaide, with a trip to Auckland, as well. Those venues are in addition to the new dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. In other words, this will be our most far reaching tour of Australasia ever - and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are planning to make it their finest."
Springsteen and company have been touring almost non-stop since the release of 2012's "Wrecking Ball," and the group was recently named the best live show by Rolling Stone magazine. The Australian tour dates for 2014 are below.
