Mel B Says Other Spice Girls Members Turn a Blind Eye On Her Domestic Abuse?

Mel B has disclosed that her Spice Girls bandmates were aware of the domestic violence she endured during her marriage to Stephen Belafonte.

The 47-year-old singer admitted that she became "very adept at disguising things" during the height of her experience, as she endured 10 years of suffering throughout their relationship.

Mel has previously stated that she was in an abusive relationship with her ex-husband Stephen, which he has consistently denied.

Asked whether the Spice Girls knew about her abuse, Mel said yes. She said she thinks some of them were aware of what is happening in dribs and drabs.

She is not saying to shade them, though. She said she was in it for 10 years but she was also very good at hiding things, especially anything to do with her then-husband, and what she had going on at home.

The singer divorced Stephen, 47, in 2017 and claimed he mistreated her emotionally and physically during their decade-long marriage, which he disputes.

Two years later, Mel rejoined with bandmates Mel C, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton for a nationwide tour. Mel went on to reveal that she will have to live with her abuse for the remainder of her life, adding that it will be living inside her for the remainder of her life.

Her mother had told her that she's fine now after she escaped him, but Mel B does not think this is right. She detailed that when one has been in an abusive relationship for an hour, a day, month, year, ten years, there are things that an abuser does that will not leave the person, from literally telling the person what's wrong with him or her, putting him or her in certain situations, where he or she feels so humiliated.

She added that she has gotten so used to being told what to wear in a forceful manner that she struggles sometimes to dress herself.

Mel, who is a patron of Women's Aid and advocates on domestic violence issues with the organization, encouraged the government to alter "the entire system" of justice.

She noted that officers require education on the "tell-tale indications" that someone is in an abusive relationship.

The artist claimed that "younger and younger" people are facing domestic abuse including kids as soon as they start some form of intimate relationship.

In her interview with broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire, she also referred to the problem as a "epidemic" and stated that the work of statisticians enabled victims to "openly speak."

This comes after Mel asked Sir Keir Starmer, if he becomes prime minister, to make combating domestic violence one of his "national priorities." After being questioned by the Spice Girl, a survivor of domestic violence who is fighting for reform, the Labour leader vowed to make the issue a priority. Sir Keir stated that combating violence against women and girls is a "strong" part of his vow to "make Britain's streets safe."

This week, he revealed five aims to better the nation, including ensuring high, sustained growth and creating a future-proof NHS. But Mel , seated alongside Sir Keir at a Woman's Aid panel, asked that he adds a sixth mission: fighting domestic violence.
