Through the years, Tori Kelly has been known for her signature golden curly hair and angelic voice. However, the musician recently unveiled the cover art for her upcoming song and many fans had to look twice because she ditched her usual hairstyle, making her unrecognizable.
Taking to her official Twitter account, the 30-year-old songstress shared the artwork of her new single titled "Missin U." In the caption, the musician wrote, "new single, new era."
The photo shows Tori Kelly sitting on a black reflective platform in front of a purple background. The gospel singer donned a new curly black hair styled in pig buns form as she wore an all-black edgy outfit complete with cutout gloves.
Following this, many fans immediately took to the reply section to point out the big change in the singer.
"Tori Kelly said it's time to leave the Christian music behind and blacken it up a lil bit. She's giving racially ambiguous," one fan wrote as quoted by Page Six. (The singer's father, Allwyn Kelly, is of Afro-Jamaican and Puerto Rican descent.)
"THE ETHNIC IS COMIN OUT!!! Love it!! 90s tori! The purple is beautiful and so is the fit!! We are ready!!" another one wrote, while another one expressed in excitement, "NO MOTHER HAS EVER MOTHERED THE WAY YOURE MOTHERING."
As of this writing, Tori Kelly has not revealed whether a new album is coming up after the release of her single. The last time she dropped a record was in 2020 with "A Tori Kelly Christmas."
Aside from a holiday album, she also previously released projects such as 2019's "Insipred by True Events," 2018's "Hiding Place," and "Unbreakable Smile" in 2015.
