Jane's Addiction has not released any new material since 2013, but that doesn't mean that they're completely inactive.
The rock band has been performing around the country for various music festivals and their own shows for quite some time now, but everything they have performed so far have been previous releases.
Until now.
During their show at Bakersfield's Mechanics Bank Arena on Mar. 5, Jane's Addiction surprised fans with a very special treat-a new song.
"We want to give you something very special," said Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell. "We're gonna leave you with a brand new song no one's ever heard, you guys will hear it first."
The brand new song's title is "True Love," and it comes 10 years after the release of "Another Soulmate" from their 2011 album "The Great Escape Artist."

Jane's Addiction Returns
According to their interview with Alternative Press in December 2022, Jane's Addiction has been gearing up to release music for quite some time now, especially now that they are embarking on their "Spirits on Fire" tour in support of Smashing Pumpkins.
The band encountered a roadblock when lead guitarist, Dave Navarro, contracted Covid-19, which devastated both the members and fans.
"At first, there was a lot of weight on my shoulders. This was our return tour right after COVID, and we didn't have Dave," said Farrell.
"Jane's is a unique band, and you can't just grab any guitar player and they'll pick it up. That's Dave Navarro we're talking about - those are big shoes to fill."
They were quickie to find a replacement for the guitarist and got back on their feet to continue the tour.
Bass player Eric Avery explained how exhilarating it was to be back on the road again after several years and how it inspired them to release music again.
"It was a shared sense of [camaraderie], which translated into us really feeling like a band again,
"This time out, there was a real connection between the people onstage that I haven't felt since 1986. We were all pulling in the same direction, and it was surprising in many ways. I think it's really important for us to write new material."
Meanwhile, Farrell recently collaborated wth Sleaford Mods in the latter's new single "So Trendy." It will be released on Mar. 10.
