Was Elvis Presley forced into marrying Priscilla Presley?

Elvis and Priscilla became one of the most famous celebrity couples. They got married on May 1, 1967 in Las Vegas during an 8-minute ceremony.

However, before the marriage happened, the late King of Rock and Roll fell in love with another woman.

Express UK released a report regarding the "Can't Help Falling in Love" singer's life while working on his film, "Viva Las Vegas." He worked with Ann-Margret, whom he reportedly fell head-over-heels for.

From being co-stars, their relationship bloomed into a romantic one. The duo spent more time together and had late-night dates in Las Vegas.

Still, Elvis was bugged by his conscience as he left his then-girlfriend, Priscilla, at his home in Graceland when he was having an "affair."

Ann-Margret, however, lost him all at once after Priscilla found out about Elvis' affair with her. The "Love Is Forever" star's parents got involved in the issue as well as the singer's boss, Colonel Tom Parker.

According to the publication, Priscilla's parents and Colonel Tom put pressure on Elvis to marry Priscilla as soon as possible. They warned his image would be ruined for bringing her - a young woman - from Germany to the USA.

From there, he "abruptly" decided not to see Ann-Margret anymore. Memphis Mafia member, Marty Lacker, revealed in his book "Elvis and the Memphis Mafia" that the King of Rock and Roll "ghosted" his co-star.

Ann-Margret reportedly tracked down Lacker, telling him, "What the hell is wrong with your boss? One minute we're in love, and the next minute I don't hear from him again. He won't even take my calls."

Ann-Margret Tried Calling Elvis Presley - But He Completely Ignored Her

Lacker noted in his book that Presley knew all along that Ann-Margret had been trying to call him as they created a secret code to ensure her calls would not be screened at Graceland.

Whenever she called his home, she would say her name was Bunny or Thumper.

Shortly after ghosting her, Ann-Margret and Elvis broke up. The late singer also proposed to Priscilla before marrying her a year later. After four years, however, they filed for divorce.

In a 2016 interview, Priscilla said she did not divorce him because she did not love him. Instead, she ended things because she had to "find out about the world."

On the other hand, Ann-Margret met Roger Smith and married him seven days after Elvis and Priscilla's wedding.
