Jordin Sparks has been trending on Twitter over the past few hours as many fans compared her to Fergie after singing the national anthem at a basketball game.
The R&B singer recently performed at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, as part of the Big 12 Tournament Championship game between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Texas Longhorns.
According to Bossip, the musician, who's popularly known for her classic 2000s hit songs like "No Air," "Tattoo," and more, sang the "Star Spangled Banner" in her own rendition, but there were times when her high notes kept falling flat.
There were moments in her performance when her vocals can be heard as off-key or "pitchy."
After the video went viral, many fans immediately took to Twitter to react to the situation, with some fans comparing her to Fergie's rendition at the Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) years ago.
"Jordin Sparks with the worst national anthem since Fergie. Outside of remembering the words that almost seemed like she was joking," one wrote.
"She probably ain't wanna sing it. Who can blame her?" another one wrote, while another one expressed, "This gotta be a set up. Cuz no way."

Even though the 33-year-old musician received negative comments, there were fans who came to her defense after the performance, saying the public knows she could sing and the possible reason why her vocals didn't meet the expectations was that the national anthem is a hard song to sing.
"That wasn't bad... Let's not act like JORDIN hasn't beyond proven she has THE VOICE. The anthem sang LIVE in stadiums & arenas with that echo is the hardest crap ever," one commented.
"Whoever said that Jordin Sparks national anthem was worse than Fergie needs to be ashamed and evaluated lol. She had a few bad notes but it was definitely not worse than Fergie," another one wrote.
As of this writing, the singer has yet to address her performance.
Fergie's National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game
In 2019, former Black Eyed Peas member Fergie broke the internet when she sang her own rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" at the NBA All-Star Game at the Staples Center.
The musician received backlash for her performance as well as memes from internet users.
Addressing the incident, the 47-year-old songstress said she's always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and she tried to do something special for the NBA because she's a risk-taker when it comes to artistry.
"clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best," she added. (via SB Nation)
